Disciplinary Hearing - Western Knights (Outcome) Monday, 11 June 2007 Following a recent Disciplinary Hearing concerning Professional Player contracts, the State League Premier Division round one game between Inglewood and Western Knights has now been awarded to Inglewood (original result Inglewood 0 vs. Western Knights 2 Saturday, 14 April 2007). Western Knights were found guilty at the hearing of signing a player on a contract that was not in the form prescribed by the National Registration Regulations and contained clauses that were incompatible with the National Registration Regulations. The panel found the club had attempted to circumvent the National Registration Regulations and imposed a $500 fine, cancelled the registration and declared the player ineligible for the games he had taken part in. Original Game Inglewood 0 Western Knights 2 (Scott Bushby 32 and 48) HT 0:1 Western Knights have successfully appealed last months' decision to strip the club of three premiership points. Football West's Disciplinary and Grievance Committee overturned the Knights Round One win over Inglewood United, who were awarded a 3-0 victory, for signing a player on a contract that did not comply with the 'National Registration Regulations', and that contained clauses that were incompatible with said regulations. In appealing the decision the Knights admitted to the offence and argued the original punishment was too harsh in light of their previous good record. The Appeal Board accepted this argument, reinstated original result and the three points, and levied an additional fine of $550 (total now $1050). |
